About Epic Life Counseling
Sometimes our life circumstances can feel weighty or overwhelming. Family, friends and even our own discernment often will fall short of offering that solid foundation necessary for growth and forward movement. Often times, professional counseling can help, but that first step can be difficult to make.
I lived with my birth mom till I was five years old and she left me at a baby sitter’s house and never came back. I spent two years in three foster homes before I was finally adopted.
A year after the adoption went through my adoptive parents were divorced. My adopted family was dysfunctional and I continued to experience emotional, verbal, and physical abuse from my adopted mom. This continued abuse led me to believe that I was worthless and not good enough for anyone.
Several years ago I listened to a sermon about the paralytic man by the pool (John 5:1-15) and how Jesus asked him if he wanted to get well. The main point was that most of us answer that question with a yes, but we aren’t really willing or ready to do all it takes to get well. After hearing that sermon, I was determined to get well.
My journey to wellness has allowed me to experience personal growth, healing, and change. It has not been an easy journey but I can honestly say that having Christ in my life has made a tremendous difference. I could have so easily chosen a different path, but instead I chose to cling to hope and live by faith, believing that God has a perfect plan for my life.
